FALL LEAGUE RACE INFORMATION

Checkered Flag Indoor Karting is committed to providing a safe racing environment while educating and developing race kart driver’s skills and knowledge of the sport. Our goal is to provide a safe and competitive kart racing event championship series.

Championship summary: Ten (10) rounds with each driver’s best seven (7) points events counting towards the series championship. Points will be given for heat race finishes and final race finishes. The combination of these two races in each single event will count towards that event’s championship total. The best seven of these events in a single season will go towards the championship. This allows for three races in which a driver can compete in and try to earn more points than a previous event OR the driver can choose not to race in an event as only the top seven events count towards the championship.

Race Day Event Schedule:

Joint Practice & Qualifying: Up to eight drivers in five (5) minute practice/qualifying session (Known as P&Q). Drivers may be split into different groups in an effort to maximize each driver’s track time experience. This session doubles as practice. A driver’s best single lap time will be recorded to determine the starting grid for heats.

Heats: Each driver will participate in two heat sessions each. Each heat will be twenty-five (25) laps (twenty [20] for Juniors) in length and each heat will be determined by the results of the P&Q session. One heat race will start drivers in the order in which they qualified with fastest driver first. The second heat race will start drivers in the opposite order in which they qualified with the slowest driver first. Each race will be a rolling single file start with one pace lap. Cautions will be full course and caution laps will be scored. Any kart deemed to be involved in causing the caution will be sent to the end of the line on the restart. Restarts will be single file and set by running order. The race will be kept to a ten minute time limit in the event of multiple cautions. Points will be given for each heat race finish (see next page).

Qualifying/Consi: A two (2) minute qualifying session will be run with up to six drivers in a given session. Multiple groups will be run if needed but each driver will only be given one qualifying session. Drivers will be arranged by best single lap for the grand final race. If there are more than eight (8) drivers competing for a starting spot in the final, the top five (5) drivers from qualifying will be guaranteed a starting spot; the remaining drivers will compete in a thirty (30) lap Consi race (twenty [20] for Juniors) run under the same Heat Race conditions. The top three (3) finishers of this Consi race will transfer to the final. Points will be given for the Consi. The number of automatic transfers to the final from qualifying may be changed to three (3) or four (4) as race officials will determine prior to the start of that days event.

Grand Final: A forty (40) lap final (thirty-five [35] laps for Juniors) will be run with drivers arranged by the finishing order from the qualifying and/or the Consi. The final race will start with a standing start. Caution laps will count but there will also be thirty (30) minute time limit on each race from once the green flag is given. All cautions are full course and scoring will revert to the previous lap. Any kart deemed to be involved in causing the caution to come out will be sent to the end of the line on the restart. All restarts will be single file and karts will be aligned by running order, regardless of laps completed.
